Proverbs 14:14

Devotional Reading: Proverbs 14

Verse for consideration: verse 14

“The wise woman builds her house, but the foolish tears it down with her own hands.”

Reflection:

I can look at my relationship with God as a house I am constructing.  Years ago I was given a plan.  I have been working on it slowly and sporadically.  I have made much progress.  And I have, at times, seen a hint of the beautiful thing it may become.  But there are other times when in foolishness, with my own hands, I have dismantled the good thing I have built.

Choice:

Today I choose, in the fear of God, to follow the word I have received—the plan I know is good.  I choose to work carefully with him toward completing the soul-structure he has promised to finish in time for his appearing.  I choose not to participate in any activity that will deface his image in me or damage any part of the good thing we are building together.

Prayer:

Dear Father in heaven, Master Builder, Contractor for my heart-project, today would you keep me focused as we cooperate in building a dwelling that you would be pleased to inhabit.  And, being filled with your Spirit, may my house become your temple.  May it be a holy place where sin is not welcome.  I offer myself to you today.  Use my gifts, myself, for your service and the blessing of any may choose to bring into the circle if my attention.  And may I remain attentive, I pray, in Jesus’ name.  Amen.
